Education

The Trust has a close working relationship with both Lincoln and Canterbury universities and funds post-graduate conservation/environmental based scholarships for students at both universities.

At Canterbury there is the Sir Neil Isaac Scholarship in Geography. At Lincoln University the Diana Isaac scholarship in conservation is available. All applications are facilitated by the scholarship offices at the respective universities.

Lady Isaac herself held honorary doctorates from both universities, and Lincoln University is the home of the Isaac Centre for Nature Conservation.

Working closely with Lincoln University the Trust has developed planting regimes throughout the area.

A Scholarship is also endowed annually to Timaru Boys High, in memory of Sir Neil who had a lifelong enthusiasm for enhancing relationships between people and the environment. This scholarship is awarded for the encouragement of environmental and conservation studies. Sir Neil attended Timaru Boys High from 1926-1932 and genuinely valued the education he received there.

Without the education of future generations, the gains of yesterday and today will be lost. The investment in this area is both a service to the greater community and a valuable tool for the Trust in the future.
